JUDGES
WINNER
The competition, which saw hundreds of entrants from across the world upload their photos to the CoinaPhoto site, saw Melody beat a host of amazing photos to win the £500 voucher for her depiction of a the stunning Appalachian mountain range.
The photo, which was declared winner based on the judges Paul Steele (figurehead of internationally renowned travel and photography blog BaldHiker.com), Lucinda Grange (international photographer) and CoinaPhoto founder Shahab Mirza, as well as a 10 day window of public voting, was announced today following the month-long competition.
The standard of photography entered in to the competition was truly beyond expectations, and narrowing the entrants down to a shortlist of the top 10 was a difficult task in itself. Paul and Lucinda were delighted and impressed with the quality of the entrants, they were blown away by Melody’s landscape photograph, with Paul commenting that ’the beautiful detail in texture and colour in this scene are incredible. The framing of the photo is perfect for me and captures so much, showing the natural subject of the mountain range and it’s most simple and striking.’ Lucinda was equally impressed by Melody, particularly praising her ‘great manipulation of exposure and colour.’
Melody has not only been crowned the winner of our Journey competition, she has also been rewarded with a £500 Amazon gift voucher to use towards state of the art equipment to go on and fulfil her photography ambitions. But that’s not all for Melody, she has also been given the once in a life time opportunity to take a one hour training session with one of the world’s most renowned international photographers, our very good friend Lucinda Grange.
Before you go, make sure you check out the incredible shots from our runners up: Wendy Clayton with her hot air balloon spectacular entitled ‘Up, up and away’ and Marie France-Roy who shared with us a striking but haunting landscape of the Road to Milford Sound.
If you’re feeling inspired why not get started now? Grab your camera, head on out, take some shots and share them with us on CoinaPhoto. You never know, we may be having another competition soon…so keep your eyes peeled!
